Spurwink is looking for a clinician to help foster, kinship, and adoptive (resource) parents in York county. The Resource Parent Care Team is a partnership between Spurwink and Maine's Office of Child and Family Services, designed to support resource parents so they can provide the best possible care to Maine's most vulnerable children. The schedule is primarily during business hours with an occasional after-hours request that would be scheduled well in advance.

This position also includes a $2,000 sign-on bonus, $1,000 paid upon 3 months of full-time employment, $1,000 paid after 6 months of employment.

DUTIES:

  • Provide support and psychoeducation to assigned families.
  • Support resource parents in caring for children through a trauma-informed parenting lens
  • Collaborate with other providers working with the family and participate in team meetings as appropriate.
  • Identify, refer, and coordinate community services for foster families.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience Required: Master's level Social Work or related degree and Maine state licensure at the LCSW/LMSW/LCPC conditional or independent level. At least one year of clinical experience working with youth and families who have experienced trauma. At least one year of direct child welfare experience or working with children and families with active child protective involvement. One year of experience with evidence-based trauma-informed treatment is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Necessary: Trauma-informed clinical skills and the ability to teach and coach others to the model. Excellent relationship building and customer service skills with professional communication (verbal and written). Organized independent worker with knowledge of the Department of Health and Human Services and Child Welfare System. Knowledge of foster care, child protection, reunification, and adoption.
