Looking to gain skills in communications, marketing, event and volunteer management, and fundraising? Want to give your time to support an important cause in your community? Spurwink is looking for a student volunteer interested in learning about nonprofit development and communications in conjunction with a senior project or college internship*. This opportunity focuses on increasing support for Spurwink from individuals, corporations, and foundations in the greater Portland area, specifically for our spring fundraising event, The Humanitarian Awards Gala.

Spurwink provides behavioral health and education services for children, adults, and families. This volunteer will have opportunities to learn about Spurwink's many diverse programs serving over 7,300 individuals and families throughout the state.


  • Communications (social media, Mailchimp, etc.)
  • Fundraising event logistics (Humanitarian Awards Gala)
  • Marketing (online and print)
  • Leadership
  • Resume building
  • Community involvement


Candidates must exhibit enthusiasm for the work and an interest in learning about both the field and Spurwink Services. Must currently be enrolled in a degree program or need credit for a senior project. Program placement will be determined based on individual student's educational requirements.
